Georgia Wilderness Society
Local Bike Rides
Some GWS members have jokingly called our organization the Georgia Wusses Society. I s’pose one reason is because there are more RVs/campers/travel trailers in our group these days than tents. Well, we haven’t fully succumbed to the “Wusses” name. Seven hearty cyclists braved the cold weather (40s-50s) and wind (up to 13 mph) on Sunday, March 10, to ride a beautiful 18-mile out & back route in Monroe County. Even though some of us turned around before reaching the turnaround point (I won’t say who!), everyone gets credit for the effort. The day was bright and sunny and a warmup for those going on the Florida/St. Marks trip March 17-21 where there are two bike rides on the schedule.
Participants were Bonnie Gehling, Terry Ross, Mike Ryan, Basil Youman, Lynn Rivenbark, Shirley Williams and Margaret Clay, trip leader.
