Adventures on the SilverComet/Chief Ladiga Trails
Six GWS cyclists spent October 3rd through 6th com-pleting 94 miles on the Silver Comet trail and Chief Ladiga trail. We camped at the slightly improved Beautiful Rock Campground, and enjoyed nice temps, extremely low humidity, decent campfires, bad food, and good company. Three cyclists used Ebikes, which came in handy on trash mountain near Cedartown. Parts of the trail needed to be blown clear of leaves, nuts, and sticks, but even the thin-tired bikes got through without a fall.
One of the highlights of the trail is the
100-year-old-plus Brushy Mountain Tunnel.
Cyclists were Terry Ross,
Bob O’Neil, Barry O’Neil, Ben Thompson, Trace Butler, and trip leader Joe Mangum.
