Hiking “The Creeks” at Jackson, Georgia
Participants: Irene, Curt, Terry, Cherry, Debra, and Mary (members) with Nancy, Sara, Tim, Brooke, Brown and Lexie as guests.
Today was my first trip as a Trip Leader, at The Creeks. We all met at 9:30 am, weather was cool but no rain in site. We started out at little past 9:30 for our 5-mile hike.
The trail was very easy and moderate, hardly any big hills. Mary Katz invited all of the guests to come and I appreciated that since it was my first trip as a leader. I was happy to see such a good turnout. Mary and her guests were the Rabbits and the G(oing)to W(alk) S(low) were the Turtles. Like I say - Hike Your Own Hike.
The trail hiked was the Town Branch Section, 2.7 miles one way (an in-and-out hike), for a total of 5.4 miles. We completed it around 11:15 am.
Mary, the Mushroom Hunter, found some Woodland Ears (brown velvet ear shaped mushroom, edible) so I know this was a successful hike for her.
Everyone said they enjoyed it and the GWS group went to Yohola Creek in Flovilla for lunch. It was successful for me since I didn’t lose anyone or get lost.
Thanks everyone for participating and Terry for all of the little hiccups on the emails. Sorry forgot to take pictures.
Trip Leader: Shirley Williams
Thanks to Shirley for a great, enjoyable hike and dining afterward. A very successful launch for Shirley's role
as a trip leader!
